I was around 8 years old when I found my love for singing. I did it all the time, but only when I was alone. I was too shy to do it in front of people. I was scared that they wanted perfection and I just wasn't there yet. 

However once my mom saw I was gifted she would make me sing for EVERYONE! From singing in church, to singing to the clerk at our local grocery store; it was endless. I will admit, at the time, I HATED IT, but now that I'm older, I can't thank her enough, because it made me who I am today; a fearless performer.

Throughout middle school training was my best friend. I started taking classes at Harlem School Of The Arts for Voice, Theater and Dance. There, I was surrounded by a group of competetive people that looked like me. They had similar goals and aspirations.

However, once I started high school my path took a sharp turn. My mom sent me to Ghana. My family is West African, and my mom wanted me to connect with those roots, she felt I was becoming ‘too American’. Still, recognizing my passion for singing, my mom chose a school which specializes in perfoming arts. I stayed there for my freshman and sophomore years then returned to the U.S for the remainder of my high school career.

My time in Africa was, in a word, extraordinary. Truly a life changing and eye opening experience.

Once I graduated high school, I went to community college studying theater. After graduation, I went to The Institute for American Musical Theater. A school that truly pushed me way beyond my wildest dreams. Through that school I learned how to audition, how to be a better performer and most of all a better storyteller.
